Delicate Little Jackdaw

When I look out of my bedroom window I normally see some big, burly Jackdaws hanging around in the field.  But this morning one decided to show his elegant side and try hanging off the seed feeder.

The Jackdaws only hang from the feeders for a few seconds because they don't have very good balance.

The Tits, especially the Great Tits were not impressed with the Jackdaws efforts.  They had to wait patiently for their turn.

Same with the Blue Tits. A queue was forming.

The Robin came in to feed on my wooden tray which Dad built which is attached to my fence.

Jura desperately wanted to go outside for a game of chase but had to make do with watching through the window with me.

My BTO berry survey pack has arrived so that will keep me busy this week, as well as way too much homework.

  14. Jackdaws are great birds - I never seen one on a bird feeder before - under a bird table or on a bird table yes, but not like in your picture.

There is a bird called a Black-winged Kite that can be seen in Spain and Portugal - that's the closest bird to you that looks like my Black-shouldered Kite.

Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW.

  15. I think, Findlay, that your name is one that more and more people will get to hear of if you keep reporting on birds and nature with this degree of passion and intelligence. I shall follow your blog with keen interest - meanwhile I have added a link to your blog through mine. Keep it up, but don't forget the homework - if you study well, there is no reason why work and your passion for wildlife should not converge at some time.
