Guest Blog for Mark Avery

It's been another exciting week, as I have been giving a brilliant opportunity to do a guest blog for Mark Avery.

In case you don't know, Mark Avery spent 25 years fighting for birds working for the RSPB. For a long time he was Conservation Director with the RSPB.

I am really interested to know what people think about my ideas and see what they think will happen in the future.

  1. Just keep doing what you are doing Findlay, the enthusiam you show will encourage a few others. Great guest blog on Mark's site too.
I hope you don't mind but I sent a link to your blog to Owen Paterson (enviroment secretary), and got an email back from his secretary, who seems to be impressed by your writting and passion, she said she would forward it onto him, let's hope she does.

  4. Just read your piece on Marks blog, Findlay you are a star, and as Douglas says just keep doing what you are doing, you are right you cannot do it yourself, but you can also inspire so many other people both young and old. I was as keen as you when I was young but never pursued it, keep that passion and love of nature and you can make a real difference.

  5. What a wonderful piece you've written on Mark's web site. I'm so pleased that you've already had extremely positive, and well-deserved, comments from some very important people. Keep it up Findlay and (as my wife would say) "the World's your lobster".

  7. Findlay - you may well have started a movement towards bringing nature back in children's lives, far more powerfully than anyone else has yet managed, including some top names in nature conservation.

My name is Lucy McRobert, and I am currently running a program for people aged 16 to 30 to bring them back into nature conservation (www.afocusonnature.org.uk); although you are a little young for our project, we would love to find a way to feed your enthusiasm for birds and wildlife - if you would be interested in finding out more please get your dad to contact me on lucy@afon.co.uk; I'd love the opportunity to talk to you both. We may be able to sort out a few field guides at the very least. You can find out more about me at http://talkonthewildside.wordpress.com/.

All the best, and many congratulations, Lucy

  9. Congratulations Findlay on an excellent and highly thought provoking article. I truly hope it inspires others to follow in the wake of your enthusiasm; particularly the younger generation and those who make decisions that affect us all.

    Once again, congratulations. Mark

  15. Findlay, you have brought back great memories of my childhood - living with nature and sharing it with the world - well done.

I am lucky enough to work with nature in my job. I work for a wildlife charity called Wildaid and i get to visit schools and groups and share my passion about nature and to learn what young people are doing to embrace nature. I have just helped to open a wildlife centre near Nantwich, Cheshire. I'd love to visit your school and help you to share your enthusiasm with your class mates. Who knows - your nature table may not be far off. Do have a look at our website: www.wildaid.co.uk or please email me: wildaideducation@gmail.com Keep up the great work Findlay. Best wishes, Charlie
